Sarah Verboom

Sarah Verboom is a PhD candidate at the Advanced X-ray Tomographic Imaging (AXTI) lab within the department of Medical Imaging at Radboud University Medical Center.

After a bachelor in Technical Medicine, she finished a double master's degree at the University of Twente in Technical Medicine and Applied Mathematics. She started her PhD in the AXTI lab in November 2020 under the supervision of Ioannis Sechopoulos, Mireille Broeders, and Jonas Teuwen. Her research project consists of optimizing the mammography interpretation for breast cancer screening and is entitled Accurate and Intelligent Reading for Earlier breast cancer Detection (aiREAD). During her PhD, her main focus is the development of artificial-intelligence systems that include uncertainty assessment of mammogram interpretation.
